I’ve just got back from Berlin Marathon and totally buzzing with excitement. It was my third marathon but by far the best marathon experience ever!

I am planning to run the Berlin Marathon on 20th of September this year and raise money for a charity that is focused on perserving local environment and communitites in Nepal. The money raised will be used for the Pipar project (pronouned Pee-par) which aims to build schools and employ teachers in rural communities in Nepal. Web link – Pipar Project
Congratulations to Carnegie’s Richie Cunningham who has won the mountainous Fuego y Agua 100k race in Nicaragua in Central America at the weekend covering the 62.2 miles of rugged terrain in 11 hours 40 minutes. The race included over 10,000 feet of climbing and was a single loop, involving the ascent and descent of two volcanoes. Because of the volcanoes, the island of the coast of Nicaragua holds several micro-climates of jungle, dry tropics, tropical beach, and cloud forest. The race course went through singletrack, dirt road and sand as it passed towns, villages, coffee, cacao and banana plantations, cloud forest, volcanic trail and white sand beaches.
More on 100k success for Richie Cunningham in Central America
Well done to our club member and local MP Willie Rennie who placed 2nd in the Westminster Mile last Wednesday in London. Willie clocked 5.33 finishing 5 seconds behind the race winner.

Here is a crazy race for those amongst us who like good food. You run a marathon distance and instead of water stations they have loads of food.
