The annual Scottish Coal Carrying Championships were held in Kelty on Saturday afternoon where the runners carry a 50kg sack of coal and race over a 1K course. Well done to Carnegie’s John Hargreaves who became the Scottish Champion crossing the finishing line in around 4 mins 40 secs. Willie Rennie also completed this unique and challenging event. WEST HIGHLAND WAY WEEKEND 22-24 MAY 2009

Paul Hutton took on the challenge of organising a Harrier outing over the West Highland Way split over three days. For those of us who have done the race this was going to be awfully civilised with dinner and pyjamas (or not in Stevie’s case!) scheduled into the adventure so I thought it would be interesting to see how the rest of our co-adventurers felt so I simply asked the questions are here are their answers:

Carnegie Harriers will host the 22nd Auld Toun 10K Road Race in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland at 7.30pm on Wednesday 27th May 2009.
This event is always popular with runners of all abilities with every finisher receiving a race medal and there are awards in all categories.

The 18th edition of our Festive Forest Run produced a superb race with 43 club members contesting the tough 7 mile event through Blairadam Forest near Kelty.Congratulations to Andrew Wright who clocked an impressive 40.08 to claim his first Forest title. Andrew was made to work hard for his victory with defending champion Tommy Lawrence putting in a strong run finishing 2nd overall in 40.22. Veteran internationlist Ian Stewart produced another outstanding run to place 3rd in 41.25. Andy Durham in his first ever Forest Race placed an excellent 4th in 42.26 while David Simpson finished 5th in 43.30. Peter Humphreys was the leading M40 placing 6th overall in 43.57 and Ian Johnston won the M50 award placing 9th overall in 46.01. Ken Daniels was the leading M60 clocking 1.05.42 in 36th position.
