Well done to all the harriers who made the trip to Cumbernauld for the National Cross Country Relay Championship. The ladies team of Fabienne Thompson, Morna Fleming and Linda James won Bronze for the Female Vet team. The Mens teams came in at 43, 87 and 101

The opening race in Carnegie’s Cross Country Grand Prix took place on Saturday afternoon at the East District Cross Country League within the grounds of Stirling University. Twenty one Harriers took part with Scott Bradley placing an impressive 25th overall in the mens race in 30.59. Davie Millar was Carnegie’s second counter covering the firm country course in 36.05 with Ian Johnston a few second behind clocking 36.12. Fabienne Thompson led home the Carnegie ladies, placing 18th overall in 25.06. Isobel Burnett was 23rd in 26.10 and Kirsty Baird finished 27th in 26.39. Carnegie’s ladies placed 6th team overall. All the Carnegie results are now posted on our website and the Grand Prix has been updated.

Carnegie Harriers were very well represented by 32 club members at Sunday’s Alloa Half Marathon which was run in good conditions on Sunday morning. The event attraced a field of 977 runners with many Harriers recording personal bests. Scott Bradley who had only arrived back from Tokyo a few hours before the race must have still be in flight mode as he flew round the course in an impressive 1.14.31 placing 9th overall. Alloa based member Ian Stewart clocked 1.17.32 finishing 19th overall, leading M50 and 1st local runner while Campbell Hutt recorded a personal best of 1.17.39 in 22nd position. Steven King enjoyed a strong run timing at 1.23.15 (60th). Gail Murdoch was in top form covering the 13.1 mile course in 1.29.45 and placing 1st F40. John Fulham recorded a PB of 1.32.17 (194th), Tom Spry was 2nd M60 in 1.32.44 and Darren Neilson clocked 1.35.51 (266th). London Marathon bound Kirsty Baird ran her debut half marathon in 1.36.05, Malcolm Smith made his debut in 1.36.22, Gordon Rae timed at 1.40.03 and Annette Bunyan clocked 1.40.34.Ken Daniels was the leading M70 in a superb 1.48.48, Louise Dallas timed at 1.54.11 and Mhairi MacKechnie reached the finish in 1.56.45. There were many more good runs and personal best from our members and all the Carnegie results are now posted on the results section of our website and very well done to everyone who took part. The Alloa Half Marathon was also the 2nd counting event in our Road Running Grand Prix and the latest tables have now been updated.
