Eight Harriers were amongst the 190 finishers at Thursday evening’s Kinross 10K Road Race with Tommy Lawrence placing 3rd overall in a fast 33.58. Roger Clark lowered his 10K best for this season to 36.05 while Davie Millar made the top twenty clocking 38.48 in 17th position. Steve Earl continued his steady improvement timing at 40.09 in 23rd place and Judy Turner was 7th lady overall in 42.37. Garry Taylor performed well finishing 84th in 45.42, Marianne Young had an excellent run placing 99th in 47.06 and Paul McPherson finished 133rd in 52.14.

Fast improving Roger Clark finished an excellent 6th overall at Sunday’s Balfron 10K Road Race covering the undulating course in 36.06. Pete Simpson placed 14th in 37.15 and Dennis Howett, 17th in 38.08 to win Carnegie the men’s team title. Tracey Stamp’s run of good form continued as she placed leading female harrier in 42.52 while Judith Turner swapped the hills for the roads clocking 44.27 for her efforts. Despite the challenging nature of the course Linda James managed to set a new PB of 49.01 and congratulations to Morna Fleming who won the F50 award in a time of 49.07.
The Balfron 10K which attracted nearly 600 runners also incorporated Event No.4 in our Road Running Grand Prix with Roger Clark and Tracey Stamp taking maximum points. After four events, Duncan McGougan is the leading male with 71 points ahead of Pete Simpson (61 pts) and Colin Reynolds (58pts). Linda James is the new leader in the in the ladies section with 86 points ahead of Kate McKinnon (75 pts) and Judith Turner (48 pts).

Nikki May is in joint second position after three events in the Navy Blue Scottish Road Running Grand Prix. After the opening two races in Inverness and Grangemouth, Nikki travelled to Balmoral on Saturday where she clocked 41.36 over a challenging course at the Stena Drilling Tartan 10K Road Race. The event attracted a huge field of over 1500 runners and Nikki finished 5th lady and 65th overall. A cash prize of £1000 is up for grabs for the winner of the Grand Prix with the fourth event on Sunday 27th May at the Dunfermline Half Marathon.

Would you believe, there are still club members who have omitted to come and sample the unique atmosphere of this event. On the other hand, there are absolute addicts who have been known to race and rush back from a distant, long and taxing hill race in order to make it to Strathallan that same day, in spite of blood pouring out of wounds inherited in the peaks a few hours earlier…not just because they wanted to collect their Road Running Grand Prix points!

Membership Renewal 2007 / 2008
Membership renewals are once again due. On receipt of your renewal you will be sent your new membership card.
The renewal subscription for season 1st May 2007 – 30th April 2008 will be £30 for Individual Membership and £50 for Family Membership. Our club has to pay £7 per member, per year to the Scottish Athletics governing body and this is incorporated into your membership fee.
