Saturday 27th March - Edinburgh parkrun 5K, Cramond 218 runners complete the 23rd Edinburgh parkrun
Nine members of Carnegie Harriers were amongst a huge field of 218 runners taking part in Saturday’s Edinburgh parkrun along Silverknowes Promenade. The sun was shining but a strong headwind on the return section of the out and back 5k course put a halt to fast times being recorded this week.  Iain Taylor contesting his 14th parkrun finished 3rd overall in 17.27 followed home by 9th placed Ian Johnston (18.49) and 25th placed Ross Carrie (19.54). Isobel Burnett in her 2nd parkrun finished 10th lady (1st F50) and 50th overall in 21.34.  Gordon Somerville timed at 22.16 (63rd), Paul Arnott clocked 22.31 (68th) while Val Macaulay ran her parkrun best to date finishing in 26.10 (127th) with Pauline Walker doing pacemaking duties and finishing 128th in 26.11. Tom Maley on his 8th visit to the Edinburgh parkrun placed 194th in 32.47.

A great turn out today for the East District League Dunfermline cross country 2009 at Queen Anne High school. It was muddy and we underfoot with a real cross country atmosphere today.

Mile success for Pitreavie’s Kenny Anderson
Kenny Anderson (Pitreavie AAC)was the convincing winner of the 3rd event in the Friday Evening Race Series winning the undulating one mile race in 4.55. Club mate Chris Rennison produced a strong run to finish 2nd and leading U20 athlete in 5.07 and Carnegie’s Tommy Lawrence placed 3rd in 5.10. Ian McDonald (Central AC) finished 4th in 5.22 and Campbell Hutt (Carnegie Harriers) was 5th in 5.31. Junior athlete Roisin Bonucchi (Cantral AC) enjoyed a superb run to win the ladies race in 6.25 while the host club’s Lesley Halstead placed 2nd lady in 7.42. Angela Dixon (Unattached) covered the testing course within Pittencrieff Park in 8.05 finishing 3rd lady and Claire Bonucchi was 4th lady in 8.09. Carnegie’s Ian Johnston won the M50 award placing 6th overall in 5.46 and Robert Milton (Carnegie Harriers) was the leading M40 (7th overall) in 5.52. Carnegie’s Alan Cockburn finished 8th in 5.59 and Kieran Morgan was 13th in 6.44.
