Wednesday 9th June – Corstorphine 5 Mile Road Race, Edinburgh
Iain Taylor posted a quick 27.55 whilst finishing 13th at the Corstorphine 5 Mile Race followed by Campbell Hutt who set a personal best of 28.41 in 16th place. Ian Stewart was the 2nd M50 (18th overall) in 28.57 and Frazer Munro set a PB of 31.43 in 39th position. Kieran Morgan was 68th in 34.14 and Catriona McCracken was 71st in 34.40.
Friday 11th June – Black Rock ‘5′, Kinghorn
There was a good turnout of Carnegie members at the Black Rock 5.  Results will be posted on the club website once available.
Saturday 12th June – Edinburgh parkrun 5k
Jim Robb recorded his Edinburgh parkrun 5k best time of 20.56 (55th) and Kirsty Baird made her parkrun debut finishing 56th overall in 21.07.
Saturday 12th June – Pittencrieff Park 5K, Dunfermline
Carnegie’s Andrew Wright and Judy Turner enjoyed a successful Saturday afternoon winning the Pittencrieff Park 5K. Andrew covered the hilly 3.1 mile course in 16.24 placing 1st male and Judy was the 1st lady (6th overall) in 19.49. Calum McGaw ran a strong race finishing 2nd male in 17.58 and Melanie Sinclair produced an excellent run placing 3rd lady (14th overall) in 22.32. Jon Farrimond clocked 20.08 placing 7th and Darran Neilson was 12th in 22.06. Maryann Lawrence ran well to finish 4th lady (25th overall) in 25.05.
Saturday 12th June – Durisdeer Hill Race
Three Harriers took part in the Durisdeer Hill Race where Neil Campbell covered the 10.8 mile (3800ft) course in 2.17.10 finishing 21st overall. Alison West won the F50 category timing at 2.19.19 and Fabienne Thompson was 28th in 2.26.48.
Saturday 12th June – Skye Half Marathon
Fiona Rennie and Pauline Walker warmed up for next weekend’s West Highland Way Race by taking part in the annual Isle of Skye Half Marathon where they both completed the hilly course in 2.03.54.
Sunday 13th June – Dunfermline Half Marathon
The 25th anniverary Dunfermline Half Marathon was a huge success and overall the new route has been well received by the several hundred runners taking part. The cool temperatures and light rain made conditions near perfect for distance running and Carnegie members were out in force to support the event.  The race incorporated the Scottish Half Marathon Championships and a Home International Challenge which brought many of the UK’s leading distance runners to the event. Carnegie’s Simon Plummer who was born in Dunfermline and now lives in Amesbury in Wiltshire flew up from Southampton to take part. Simon had his race number pinned to his Carnegie vest when 45 minutes before the race start he was asked by the Scottish team manager to represent Scotland in the Home International. After a quick change of running vest, Simon certainly managed to do his club and country proud finishing 6th overall in a personal best of 1.08.47.Tommy Lawrence retained the Gary Riddell Trophy for the 6th year in succession finishing 1st local runner and 13th overall in 1.15.02. Allan Fotheringham ran a strong race finishing 15th overall, 2nd local runner and 2nd M40 in the Scottish Championships in 1.17.51. Iain Taylor also enjoyed a good run covering the testing 13.1 mile course in 1.18.29 placing 19th overall and 3rd local runner. Our Carnegie men (Simon Plummer, Tommy Lawrence and Allan Fotheringham) won team silver in the Scottish Championships behind Shettleston Harriers.  In the ladies race, Carnegie’s Siobhan Culleton recorded a personal best of 1.27.01 finishing 12th lady overall and 1st local runner. Kristin Lownie reached the finish in Pittencrieff Park in 1.27.17 (13th lady overall) placing 2nd local lady and Isobel Burnett won the Scottish Championship F50 award finishing the 3rd Carnegie lady in 1.36.03. Carnegie ladies also enjoyed team success finishing 2nd club overall in the Scottish Championships.

Tuesday 25th May - Ravenscraig Park One Mile Race, Kirkcaldy Fast times at Ravenscraig Park one mile race
Carnegie’s Calum and Fergus McGaw were both in action on Tuesday evening at the Ravenscraig Park One Mile Race in Kirkcaldy. Calum clocked an impressive 4.48 finishing 3rd overall while Fergus set a personal best of 5.19 placing 8th.

Saturday 10th April - Edinburgh parkrun 5K, Cramond

Harriers set fast times at the Edinburgh parkrun
There was an excellent turnout of almost 40 club members at Saturday’s Edinburgh parkrun which saw a field of 204 runners enjoy almost perfect conditions for the 5k run. The event incorporated the 3rd counter in Carnegie’s Road Running Grand Prix with many Harriers recording personal bests.  2009 West Highland Way race winner Scott Bradley was the leading Carnegie athlete placing 2nd overall in an excellent personal best of 15.53. Allan Fotheringham was the next Harrier home covering the fast, out and back course in 16.34 finishing 3rd overall and 1st M40. Roger Clark in 4th position was hot on his heels clocking a time of 16.38 with Iain Taylor recording a parkrun best of 16.42 crossing the line in 5th position.  Alex Keenan on his return from injury ran a parkrun PB of 17.09 (6th), Campbell Hutt recorded a new best of 17.10 (7th) and Andrew Smith clocked 17.21 placing 8th. Well done to Steven King who ran a 5k PB of 17.38 (13th) and to leading M50 Ian Johnston who timed at 17.56 finishing 17th.  There were strong runs from Alan Cockburn (24th in 18.33), Ross Carrie (30th in 18.52) and John Fulham (31st in 18.53) while Gail Murdoch ran a personal best of 19.29 finishing 3rd lady overall. Darran Neilson set a 5k PB of 19.38 (42nd), Jon Farrimond made his Carnegie debut timing at 19.49 (46th) and Kieran Morgan in his last race in his 40’s set a PB of 19.50 (47th). Malcolm Smith and David Greig set PB’s of 19.52 and 19.53 respectively while Isobel Burnett was the elading F50 clocking a fine time of 20.01. Pamela Gilfillan on her parkrun debut ran a PB of 20.57, Dru Baker clocked 21.30 and there were PB’s for Susan Cederstrom (21.42) and Morna Fleming (21.53 and leading F55). Richie Cunningham despite run the entire West Highland Way twice this week still managed his first parkrun in 23.02, Lesley Landels made her club debut in 23.15, Louise Hewison clocked 23.24 and Bill Fairley timed at 25.19.  Carnegie Harriers represented nearly 20% of the Edinburgh parkrun field and very well done to everyone who took part. Coffee and cakes were thoroughly enjoyed after the run in Cramond car park. Saturday 20th March – Hardmoors 55 Mile Ultra Race, Guisborough
Richie Cunningham commenced his 2010 ultra running season in fine style placing 3rd overall at the Hardmoors 55 Mile Ultra Race from Guisborough on Saturday covering the gruelling distance in 9.14.40.
Saturday 20th March - Edinburgh parkrun 5K, Cramond
At Saturday’s Edinburgh parkrun 5k there were three club members amongst the 171 runners taking part. Robert Milton contesting his 14th parkrun finished 28th in 19.35. Ross Carrie was 42nd in 20.58 and Tom Maley was 154th in 30.18.
Sunday 21st March – Alloa Half Marathon
Excellent Carnegie turnout at the Alloa Half Marathon
Carnegie Harriers were very well represented by 32 club members at Sunday’s Alloa Half Marathon which was run in good conditions on Sunday morning. The event attraced a field of 977 runners with many Harriers recording personal bests. Scott Bradley who had only arrived back from Tokyo a few hours before the race must have still be in flight mode as he flew round the course in an impressive 1.14.31 placing 9th overall. Alloa based member Ian Stewart clocked 1.17.32 finishing 19th overall, leading M50 and 1st local runner while Campbell Hutt recorded a personal best of 1.17.39 in 22nd position. Steven King enjoyed a strong run timing at 1.23.15 (60th).  Gail Murdoch was in top form covering the 13.1 mile course in 1.29.45 and placing 1st F40. John Fulham recorded a PB of 1.32.17 (194th), Tom Spry was 2nd M60 in 1.32.44 and Darren Neilson clocked 1.35.51 (266th).  London Marathon bound Kirsty Baird ran her debut half marathon in 1.36.05, Malcolm Smith made his debut in 1.36.22, Gordon Rae timed at 1.40.03 and Annette Bunyan clocked 1.40.34.Ken Daniels was the leading M70 in a superb 1.48.48, Louise Dallas timed at 1.54.11 and Mhairi MacKechnie reached the finish in 1.56.45.  There were many more good runs and personal best from our members and all the Carnegie results are now posted on the results section of our website and very well done to everyone who took part.  The Alloa Half Marathon was also the 2nd counting event in our Road Running Grand Prix and the latest tables have now been updated.

Sunday 21st March – Scottish Junior Road Race Championships, Rouken Glen Park
Calum McGaw represented Carnegie Harriers at Sundays Scottish Junior Road Race Championships which were held at Rouken Glen Park. Calum produced a strong run over the 5k distance in the Under 20 men’s race finishing 17th and leading Fife based athlete in 17.21.
Sunday 21st March – Hastings Half Marathon
Pauline Walker and Tim Walker made their annual journey to the South of England to take part in the Hasting Half Marathon.  Pauline covered the challenging course in 1.39.12 and well done to Tim who completed the 13.1 miler in 2.00.05.
Sunday 21st March – Criffel Hill Race
Alison West enjoyed a great run at Sunday’s Criffel Hill Race finishing 2nd lady and 1st F50 in 1.21.04
