The heat is on at the Brig Bash 5
There was a huge entry of over 200 runners at the Brig Bash 5 in Bridge of Earn on Wednesday evening. The hot and humid conditions didn’t appear to affect the leading runners with the host club’s Mike Carroll (Perth Road Runners) scorching around the course to victory in 26.04. Fife AC’s Neil Young placed second in 26.25 ahead of Jeff Farquhar (Pitreavie AAC) who clocked 26.56. Less than ten days after winning the 95 mile West Highland Way Race, Scott Bradley was back in action recording a time of 27.29, placing 4th overall and leading Carnegie’s men to 1st team prize. Peter Humphreys was the next Harrier home finishing 9th and 1st M40 in 28.58. Roger Clark completed the winning men’s team placing 10th in 29.13. Despite the heat, Sid James ran a personal best of 29.45 (18th) and new member Campbell Hutt was 22nd in 29.58. Fabienne Thompson was Carnegie’s leading lady in 33.10 winning the F35 award while Lynne Bennet clocked a personal best of 35.19.
