Carnegie Harriers Running Club New Year Message

0

Congratulations and well done to all our club members who have ensured that 2007 was another very successful year for Carnegie Harriers.  Throughout the year members travelled far and wide taking part in 239 races on the hills, road, trail, country and track.  Several members put our club on the International map taking part in numerous foreign races in countries such as Thailand, Spain, France, Italy, Cyprus, Andorra, Ireland, USA and Switzerland.  Well done to everyone who set new personal bests in 2007 and our latest count showed 86 PB’s recorded.  Our runners notched up an incredible indivdual 53 race wins in 2007 with our ladies having 27 first places and our men had 26.

Our members supported all the local races well with 40 taking part in the Auld Toun 10K back in May and 39 enjoying the Black Rock ’5′ in Kinghorn.  31 Harriers contested the Dunfermline City Half Marathon while 29 members took part in the Milnathort Dash and Brig Bash ’5′.  The largest turnout of club members in 2007 was at the Cateran Trail Relay where 54 members took part in the relay race.

On the team front, Carnegie Harriers recorded 20 team wins including our ladies retaining their status as Scottish National Half Marathon and Marathon Champions.  Our guys also won the Scottish National Half Marathon team title back in May.  Further team success came at the Forth Bridges 10K where our men also occcupied the leading ten positions in the race.

Our Carnegie organised races were well supported throughout the year and many thanks to everyone who took part and to those who assisted at our events.

Best wishes to all for 2008.
