Wednesday 4th August – North Berwick Law Hill Race
Iain Taylor and Colin Reynolds were amongst a record field of 254 runners at the 3 mile North Berwick Law Race last Wednesday evening. The race which starts at North Berwick harbour winds through the town before a 600ft climb up North Berwick Law before returning to the finish at the harbour. Iain finished 19th overall in 22.34 and Colin finished in 25.51.
Friday 6th August - Friday Evening Race Series, 1 Mile Road Race
Mile success for Calum McGaw and Eilidh Reid
Carnegie’s Calum McGaw clocked an impressive 5.07 to win the one mile race and final event in the 2010 Friday Evening Race Series. Colin Somerville (Unattached) covered the challenging course in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline in 5.17 taking 2nd place with Pitreavie AAC’s Scott McAlpine placing 3rd overall in 5.21. Eilidh Reid (Pitreavie AAC) won the ladies race in an excellent 6.16 with Carnegie’s Claire Howie finishing 2nd lady in 6.37 and Amy McAlpine (Pitreavie AAC) was 3rd lady in 6.46. Barry Davie (Pitreavie AAC) placed 4th in 5.22 and David Adam (Unattached) finished 5th and 1st M40 in 5.24. Thirteen year old Aidan Thompson (Pitreavie AAC) produced a very strong run placing 6th overall in 5.26 while Carnegie’s Ian Johnston finished 7th and 1st M50 in 5.54. Club mateTom Spry was the leading M60 in a time of 6.46.
Saturday 7th August – The Devil O’The Highlands 43 Mile Footrace, Tyndrum to Fort William
Carnegie Harriers were represented by four members at the gruelling Devil O’The Highlands 43 Mile Race from Tyndrum to Fort William. The runners braved warm conditions throughout their run which was successfully completed by Gail Murdoch (33rd and 7th lady in 7.56.35), Andy Sim (43rd in 8.13.37), Helena Sim (55th in 8.36.45) and Sue Walker (90th in 10.23.21).

Saturday 7th August – Largo Law Hill Race
Andrew Wright wins the Largo Law Hill Race
Congratulations to Carnegie’s Andrew Wright who was in terrific form on Saturday afternoon winning the Largo Law Hill Race. Andrew covered the 6.5 mile 1000ftcourse in 45.30 which is only 37 seconds outside Andy Symonds course record of 44.53 which was set in 2008.
Saturday 7th August – Edinburgh parkrun 5K
Five Harriers took part in the Edinburgh parkrun 5K on Saturday morning with David Greig placing 38th in 20.07. Jim Robb clocked 20.20 (45th) and Colin Reid was 75th in 22.35. Adam Sinclair made his club and parkrun debut timing at 28.01 (138th) whileMichelle Jackson was 157th in 30.01.
