			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Saturday 6th March &#8211;  Birnam Hill Classic, Dunkeld On Saturday at the <strong>Birnam Hill Classic</strong> from Dunkeld, Fabienne was 4th lady in 43.49 and <strong>Alison West</strong> was the  leading F50.</p>
<p>Saturday 6th March &#8211; Glasgow to Edinburgh Double Marathon <strong>Gail and Sue race from Glasgow to Edinburgh</strong></p>
<p><strong></strong>Carnegie&#8217;s  Gail Murdoch and Sue Walker completed the <strong>Glasgow &#8211; Edinburgh Double  Marathon</strong> on Saturday. The gruelling event started in Ruchill Park, Glasgow  and followed a course  along the Forth &amp; Clyde and Union canals before leading the competitors to  the finish some 56 miles later at Edinburgh Quay.  <strong>Gail</strong> finished an  impressive 4th lady overall in 7.58.46 and <strong>Sue</strong> reached the finish very  strongly in 11.03.00.</p>
<p>Saturday 6th March -  Edinburgh parkrun 5K, Cramond     <strong>Fast times recorded at the 20th Edinburgh  parkrun</strong></p>
<p><strong><br />
</strong><strong></strong>The <strong>Edinburgh parkrun</strong> launched 20 weeks  ago and has already established itself as one of the most popular events for our  club members. Saturday&#8217;s run was no exception with eleven Harriers making the short trip  across the Forth to take part.  <strong>Ian Stewart</strong> contesting his 2nd  parkrun was rewarded with 3rd place (1st M50) in a fast time of 16.38. <strong>Calum  McGaw</strong> made his debut run clocking an excellent 17.14 placing 7th overall and  <strong>Ian Johnston</strong> on his 5th visit clocked 18.11 finishing 17th. Fourteen year  old <strong>Fergus McGaw</strong> covered the fast and flat 5k course in 18.56 placing  22nd.  <strong>Ross Carrie</strong> ran a new parkrun PB of 19.50 (46th) while  <strong>Kieran Morgan</strong> set a personal best of 19.52 in 48th position. <strong>David  Greig</strong> made the best use of the ideal running conditions recording a PB of  20.14 (54th) and <strong>Stephen Greer</strong> timed at 20.43 in 61st place.   <strong>Phil Smithard</strong> took part in his first parkrun finishing 68th and leading  M60 in 21.25, <strong>John Milton</strong> was 116th in 24.24 and <strong>Tom Maley</strong> in his  5th parkrun was 182nd in 29.46. There were 205  finishers.</p>
<p>Sunday 7th March &#8211; Bishop Hill  Race     <strong>Hill Running Grand Prix get  underway at Scotlandwell</strong></p>
<p><strong><br />
</strong>The annual Bishop Hill Race took  place on Sunday afternoon with the sixty seven runners facing slushy snow on the  upper slopes of the 2.5 mile race which has 1000 feet of climbing. As always there was a good  Carnegie representation at this event with fourteen Harriers taking part.  Sandy Bennet led the way for Carnegie placing 5th overall in 21.45,  followed seven seconds later by 6th placed Peter Simpson who won the M50  award in 21.52. Richie Cunningham secured 10th place in 23.30 to ensure  2nd team spot for Carnegie with 21 points. Steven King finished 16th in  23.47, Derek Cassells was 18th in 24.35 while Stephen Greer  enjoyed a fine run placing 32nd in 27.30. London Marathon bound Colin  Reynolds covered the steep ascent and descent in 28.08 (35th), Neil  Campbell was 36th in 28.11, Paul Hutton was 39th in 28.41 and  Chris Davidson posted a time of 28.46 finishing 42nd. Regular hill runner  Allan Macaulay placed 47th in 29.16, Kieran Morgan was 49th in  29.48, Phil Smithard was 66th in 38.55 while Bill Fairley made his  Carnegie debut placing 67th in 43.42. The Grand Prix table has been updated and  the 2nd event will take place on Saturday 20th March at the Chapelgill Hill  Race.</p>
<p>Sunday 7th March -Arbroath  Smokies 10 Mile Road Race     <strong>Team success at the Arbroath  Smokies Ten Miler</strong></p>
<p><strong><br />
</strong>Eleven Carnegie ladies were amongst a field of  over 300 runners at the popular Arbroath Smokies Ten Mile Road Race on  Sunday morning. Judy Turner was in fine form placing 5th overall in 1.08.19 and followed home  by Isobel Burnett (8th in 1.10.14) and Pauline Walker (10th in  1.01.51) ensured team success for our ladies.  Annette Bunyan who is  training for the Edinburgh Marathon in May had a great race placing 17th in  1.12.59 while Helena Sim clocked 1.15.23 finishing 25th. Morna  Fleming reached the finish in a new PB of 1.18.03 (36th and 2nd F55),  Lesley Halstead removed over ten minutes from her previous best ten miler  clocking 1.21.32 (55th) and Gillian McCracken was 72nd in 1.24.18.  Carnegie&#8217;s Club President Val Macaulay recorded a time of 1.30.41  (127th), Catherine Wilson was 136th in 1.31.10 and Fiona Rennie  was 157th in  1.32.52.</p>
<p>Sunday 7th March &#8211; <strong>Lasswade  10 Mile Road Race</strong></p>
<p>The Lasswade 10 Mile Race also took place on  Sunday afternoon with a eight Harriers taking part in a field of over 300  runners. Frazer Munro recorded a personal best of 1.08.28 placing 73rd,  Ian McKinnell clocked 1.12.32 (106th), Bill Duff was 134th in  1.14.47 and Allan Brannigan was 147th in 1.16.07.  New club member  Derek Carswell made his Carnegie debut covering the undulating ten mile  course from Rosewell in 1.23.40 (224th). Ken Daniels was one of the  leading M70 runners clocking 1.27.59 (264th), John Milton was 291st in  1.32.18 and John McArthur was 311th in  1.36.46.Busy</p>

<p>The annual Scottish National Masters Cross Country Championships took place in Forres on Saturday afternoon with eight Carnegie members taking part. Our men put in a tremendous team performance winning the silver medals finishing behind a very strong team from Ron Hill Cambuslang with the local club Forres Harriers in the bronze medal position. Tommy Lawrence was in top form over the six mile course placing an excellent 6th overall (3rd M35) in 34.19. Ian Stewart finished a superb 10th and 2nd M50 in 34.54, Allan Fotheringham was 15th in 35.28 and Lewis Lawson was 18th in 35.43 to secure the silver medals for our club.  Steven King enjoyed a strong run placing 38th in 38.12, Peter Simpson was 50th in 39.06 and Stephen Greer finished 86th in 44.15.  In the ladies race, Fabienne Thompson put in an excellent run finishing 13th overall in 25.31.</p>

<p>Saturday 6th February &#8211; Edinburgh parkrun 5K</p>
<p>PB&#8217;s Galore at the Edinburgh parkrun 5K</p>
<p>A dozen Harriers were amongst the 162 runners taking part in the 16th Edinburgh parkrun with five Carnegie members setting 5k personal bests. Iain Taylor recorded his second &#8217;sub 17&#8242; parkrun, finishing 3rd overall in 16.59 closely followed by 6th placed Andrew Smith who clocked 17.13 removing 43 seconds from his previous best. Campbell Hutt enjoyed a fine run placing 7th in 17.25 and Ian Johnston was 9th and leading M50 in 18.17. Robert Milton placed 23rd in 19.40, Kieran Morgan was 28th in 20.01 and Isobel Burnett on her parkrun debut ran a PB of 20.08 finishing 4th lady and 33rd overall. Malcolm Smith set a PB of 20.16 (35th), David Greig was 43rd in 20.57 while Campbell Reid was a second behind placing 44th in 20.58 (PB). Morna Fleming on her parkrun debut clocked a PB of 22.07 (59th) and John Milton was 86th in 24.18.</p>
<p>Sunday 7th February &#8211; Forfar Multi-Terrain Half Marathon</p>
<p>Gail Murdoch, Steven King, Helena Sim, Richie Cunningham, Kieran Morgan, Bill Duff, Ken Daniels, John Mcarthur and John Milton all took part in Sunday&#8217;s Forfar Multi-Terrain Half Marathon.  Results are not yet available but will be put on the club website when they are.</p>

</strong></span><strong></strong>Carnegie  Harriers hosted their annual <strong>Loch Fitty Cross Country Race</strong> on Saturday  afternoon. The 5 mile undulating course on the North side of the loch was  solid underfoot due to  the overnight frost which made for a testing race for the 35 runners taking  part. Congratulations to race winner <strong>Iain Taylor</strong> who clocked 29.53  finishing one second clear of 2nd placed <strong>Tommy Lawrence</strong> who recorded  29.54. Pitreavie&#8217;s <strong>Barry Davie</strong> claimed 3rd place recording a time of  30.24 with fast improving <strong>Andrew Smith</strong> timing at 30.35 in 4th.  <strong>Fabienne Thompson</strong> made a successful defence of her 2009 title winning the  ladies race in 35.09 (12th overall) with <strong>Isobel Burnett</strong> running a strong  race finishing 2nd lady in 36.50. <strong>Gail Murdoch</strong> placed 3rd lady in 37.29.  In the age group categories <strong>Stevie Ogg</strong> won the M40 award (5th overall) in  30.47, <strong>Ian Johnston</strong> the M50 award (7th overall) in 32.00 and <strong>Bill  Duff</strong> the M60 award (17th overall) in 36.54. <strong>Helena Sim</strong> was the  leading F40 (22nd overall) in 38.54 and well done to <strong>Morna Fleming</strong>who won  the F50 award (27th overall) in 39.24. Thanks to all those who took part and to  our club members who assisted with the race organisation</span></p>

</span></strong>Carnegie&#8217;s  <strong>Roger Clark</strong> was the convinicing winner of our opening 3 mile time trial  of 2010. Leading from the gun, Roger sped around the testing two lap course in  16.36 finishing clear  of 2nd placed <strong>Barry Davie</strong> (Pitreavie AAC) who recorded 16.51 and new  Carnegie member <strong>Andrew Smith</strong> who was 3rd in 16.56.  <strong>Stevie  Ogg</strong> was the leading M40 placing 4th overall in 17.05 with <strong>Steven King</strong> occupying 5th in 17.34. <strong>Ian Johnston</strong> was the 1st M50 (6th overall) in  18.26, <strong>John Fulham</strong> posted a quick time of 19.05 (7th), <strong>Bernt  Cederstrom</strong> was 8th in 19.13 and <strong>Derek Cassells</strong>, 9th in 19.16. <strong>Gail  Murdoch</strong> took the honours in the ladies race clocking 19.43 placing 10th  overall. <strong>Catriona McCracken</strong> enjoyed a strong run finishing 2nd lady in  19.52 and new member <strong>Pamela Gilfillan</strong> placed 3rd lady in 21.13.  <strong>Annette Bunyan</strong> was 4th lady in 21.23 and <strong>Kirsty Stoddart</strong> (Harmeny  AC) was the 5th lady in 23.06.  Well done to everyone who took part and  thanks to <strong>Paul Arnott</strong> and <strong>Malcolm Smith</strong> who covered the  timekeeping. </span></span></span></div>

</span></strong>Despite a bitterly cold morning at the Edinburgh  parkrun, Carnegie&#8217;s <strong>Gail Murdoch</strong> produced an excellent run over the out  and back 5k course to remove over 20 seconds from her previous best.  The popular  weekly event attracted a field of 182 runners with eleven Carnegie members  taking part. <strong>Iain Taylor</strong> was the leading Harrier placing 4th overall in  17.14 with <strong>Campbell Hutt</strong> on his return from injury clocking 18.12 in 9th  place.<strong> Kieran Morgan</strong> ran a 5k best of 19.59 (29th) while  <strong>Gail Murdoch</strong> clocked a new PB of 20.01 as she finished 30th overall and  4th lady. <strong>Ross Carrie</strong> completed his 3rd parkrun in a new parkrun best of  20.09 placing 33rd.<strong> Iain Thomson</strong> posted a time of 21.36  (56th) on his parkrun debut and <strong>Gordon Somerville</strong> finished 60th in 21.55.  <strong>Louise Dallas</strong> on her Carnegie debut recorded a time of 23.19 (85th),  <strong>John Milton</strong> timed at 24.43 (104th), <strong>Val Macaulay</strong> was 135th in  26.52 and <strong>Tom Maley</strong> finished 163rd in 29.37.<span style="text-decoration: underline;">Saturday 30th January &#8211; Finsbury parkrun 5K, London</span></span></span></span></div>

</span></strong>An excellent team performance saw Carnegie Harriers  successfully retain their <strong>Scottish Veteran Harriers Road Relay</strong> title at  Strathclyde Park near Motherwell.<strong> </strong><strong>Lewis Lawson</strong> covered the opening 3.67 mile leg for the &#8216;A&#8217; team in 20.28 placing 4th.  Scottish veteran internationlist <strong>Ian Stewart</strong> produced a very strong run  to bring Carnegie into the lead at halfway clocking 19.55 on Leg 2. <strong>Tommy  Lawrence</strong> covered the penultimate leg in a fast 19.28 and <strong>Andrew  Wright</strong> ensured team success for Carnegie clocking 18.43 bringing the  Harriers home in first position.  Carnegie&#8217;s &#8216;B&#8217; team were also in great  form placing 4th overall. <strong>Allan Fotheringham</strong> had an outstanding run on  leg one timing at 19.59 in 3rd position before <strong>Iain Taylor</strong> clocked 20.33  keeping the &#8216;B&#8217; team in 3rd place at halfway. <strong>Stevie Ogg</strong> covered leg  three in 21.15 (3rd) and <strong>John Lambie</strong> clocked 20.49 as the team placed 4th  overall.  <strong>Steven King</strong> showed no adverse effects from Saturday&#8217;s  Devils Burden Hill Relay as he covered leg one for the &#8216;C&#8217; team in 21.26 placing  8th. <strong>Peter Morrison</strong> clocked 25.49 on leg two (18th), <strong>Malcolm Smith</strong> timed at 25.09 (17th) on leg three and <strong>Mark Johnstone</strong> covered leg four in  25.37.  An incomplete Carnegie &#8216;D&#8217; team saw <strong>Ian Johnston</strong> record  22.25 on leg one and <strong>John Fulham</strong> clocked 23.59 on leg two.  Carnegie  ladies finished 10th club overall with <strong>Gail Murdoch</strong> placing 5th (23.56)  on leg one. <strong>Lesley Halstead</strong> covered leg two in 28.43 (9th) and <strong>Maryann  Lawrence</strong> clocked 28.54 on leg three ensuring a top ten finish for our  ladies.  A selection of excellent photo&#8217;s from the event courtesy of  <strong>Chris Upson</strong> (Westerlands) can be found <a  href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/chrisupson/sets/72157623276327534/" target="_blank"><strong>HERE</strong></a>.</span></span></span></span></span></span></div>

<p><strong>Carnegie Harriers</strong> are a friendly running club who cater for the interests of road, country, hill, ultra, trail and fun running. The club meets for training at Dunfermline Academy of Sport, Pitreavie Playing Fields, Dunfermline, every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.20pm (for a 6.30pm start). The Academy of Sport offer superb changing / showering facilities along with a licensed bar and cafe.</p>
<p>We welcome new members of all abilities regardless of whether you are a serious competitor or just wanting to keep fit. We organise structured group training sessions throughout the year along with promoting several open races, club member only events, time trials and social nights. Membership is only £30 per year for adults and £10 for juniors (15 &#8211; 17 years old).</p>
