Andrew Wright wins Carnegie’s Festive Forest Run

The 18th edition of our Festive Forest Run produced a superb race with 43 club members contesting the tough 7 mile event through Blairadam Forest near Kelty.Congratulations to Andrew Wright who clocked an impressive 40.08 to claim his first Forest title. Andrew was made to work hard for his victory with defending champion Tommy Lawrence putting in a strong run finishing 2nd overall in 40.22. Veteran internationlist Ian Stewart produced another outstanding run to place 3rd in 41.25. Andy Durham in his first ever Forest Race placed an excellent 4th in 42.26 while David Simpson finished 5th in 43.30. Peter Humphreys was the leading M40 placing 6th overall in 43.57 and Ian Johnston won the M50 award placing 9th overall in 46.01. Ken Daniels was the leading M60 clocking 1.05.42 in 36th position.

Scottish 100k champion Gail Murdoch was the winner of the ladies race in 54.42 (28th overall) and completes a superb season where she has set personal bests at all distances. Helena Sim placed 2nd lady in 57.46 and Susan Cederstrom finished 3rd lady in 59.14 ahead of Morna Fleming who was 4th lady in 1.00.42. Well done to Catherine Wilson who placed 5th lady in 1.07.29.

There were some excellent other performances in the race including new members Matt Meade (12th in 48.24), Alan Manson (22nd in 53.23) and David Greig (27th in 54.29) who all ran well in their first Forest Race.

After all the recent rain the weather was very kind for the race and a very well done to everyone who took part. Thanks also to our race sponsor Norec Ltd and to all our members who assisted at our event, setting up the course, taking photo’s, recording results and providing post race refreshments.
