The 25th anniverary Dunfermline Half Marathon was a huge success and overall the new route has been well received by the several hundred runners taking part. The cool temperatures and light rain made conditions near perfect for distance running and Carnegie members were out in force to support the event.  The race incorporated the Scottish Half Marathon Championships and a Home International Challenge which brought many of the UK’s leading distance runners to the event. Carnegie’s Simon Plummer who was born in Dunfermline and now lives in Amesbury in Wiltshire flew up from Southampton to take part. Simon had his race number pinned to his Carnegie vest when 45 minutes before the race start he was asked by the Scottish team manager to represent Scotland in the Home International. After a quick change of running vest, Simon certainly managed to do his club and country proud finishing 6th overall in a personal best of 1.08.47.Tommy Lawrence retained the Gary Riddell Trophy for the 6th year in succession finishing 1st local runner and 13th overall in 1.15.02.
