Carnegie Harriers Hill Race is a resounding success

The 2nd Carnegie Harriers Hill Race was held in perfect conditions over a four mile course with 1400 feet of climbing from Scotlandwell on Sunday afternoon. The race attracted a good entry of nineteen club members including Richie Cunningham who could barely have recovered from his exploits in the Ochil 2000′s the previous day.

From the gun a group of five runners forced the pace up the first climb to Whitecraigs with Andy Hunter forging ahead just before the summit. Andy kept his momemtum going reaching Bishop Hill in the lead and went on the win the race in 31.30 with Tommy Lawrence only ten seconds behind in 2nd (31.40). Richie Cunningham placed 3rd in 32.26 and despite falling four times on the steep descent Stevie Ogg finished 4th (33.24).

Judy Turner was the comfortable winner of the ladies race clocking 35.56 in 6th position overall while Morna Fleming placed 2nd lady in 49.21.

Well done to everyone who came along and took part in the race and to our Hill Running Captain George Murdoch and his team for organising the run.Race photos from the Carnegie Harriers Hill Race can be found in the Hillbillies Blog
