Carnegie Harriers running club weekend races
Saturday 27th March - Edinburgh parkrun 5K, Cramond 218 runners complete the 23rd Edinburgh parkrun
Nine members of Carnegie Harriers were amongst a huge field of 218 runners taking part in Saturday’s Edinburgh parkrun along Silverknowes Promenade. The sun was shining but a strong headwind on the return section of the out and back 5k course put a halt to fast times being recorded this week. Iain Taylor contesting his 14th parkrun finished 3rd overall in 17.27 followed home by 9th placed Ian Johnston (18.49) and 25th placed Ross Carrie (19.54). Isobel Burnett in her 2nd parkrun finished 10th lady (1st F50) and 50th overall in 21.34. Gordon Somerville timed at 22.16 (63rd), Paul Arnott clocked 22.31 (68th) while Val Macaulay ran her parkrun best to date finishing in 26.10 (127th) with Pauline Walker doing pacemaking duties and finishing 128th in 26.11. Tom Maley on his 8th visit to the Edinburgh parkrun placed 194th in 32.47.
Saturday 27th March – White Caterthun Half Marathon, Brechin Frazer Munro placed a superb 6th overall and 2nd M40 at the White Caterthun Half Marathon from Brechin in 1.33.20. This tough 13.1 miler includes a 900ft climb over the White Caterthun itself.
Sunday 28th March – Round the Houses 10K Road Race, Grangemouth Strong run by Scott Bradley at the Round the Houses 10K
Carnegie’s Scott Bradley posted a fast 34.16, placing 27th in a high class field of runners at Sunday’s Round the Houses 10K Road Race in Grangemouth. The popular 10K attracted over 600 athletes and incorporated the opening event in the Stewarts Road Race Grand Prix along with the Scottish University 10K Championships. Allan Fotheringham battled hard against the strong wind to complete the 6.2 mile course in 35.38 (43rd) and Roger Clark ran well placing 47th in 35.52. Gail Murdoch finished 2nd F40 (139th overall) in 41.59, Kieran Morgan was 171st in 43.09 and Scott Dowell making his club debut in his first ever 10K race finished 10th junior (225th overall) in 45.35. Pamela Gilfillan also made her Carnegie debut reaching the finish at Grangemouth Stadium in 47.01 (275th overall).

Sunday 28th March – Stirling Duathlon Derek Cassells took part in the Stirling Duathlon on Sunday morning covering the 10K Run, 25 mile cycle, 5K Run in 2.19.15 placing 132nd overall.
