David Simpson wins Loch Fitty on club debut

Despite a low turnout of runners the 2nd Loch Fitty Cross Country Race was still a resounding success with the fourteen intrepid athletes enjoying their jaunt around a very muddy course on the north side of Loch Fitty.

Northern Ireland internationlist and latest Carnegie recruit David Simpson was a surprise entrant and he was content to sit off the pace before forging ahead over the second half, racing to victory in 33.14. Ian Johnston ran well taking 2nd place (1st M50) in 33.45 ahead of 3rd placed Peter Morrison who timed at 34.09.

The M40 award went to Peter Humphreys who placed 4th in 34.22. Fourteen year Calum Wilson (Edinburgh Athletic Club) flew round the course in 36.31 placing 1st junior and Fabienne Thompson won the ladies race in 36.56. Angela Wallace enjoyed her first race since returning from injury and placed 2nd lady in 44.22.

Well done to everyone who took part and to Paul Arnott, Paul Davies, Ken Daniels, Colin and Sharon Reid who all helped with the race organisation.
