Gail Murdoch wins the Scottish 100k Championship
Gail Murdoch won Gold at Saturday’s Scottish 100K Championships held at the North Inch in Perth. Gail covered the 62.2 mile course in 9 hrs 3 mins 59 secs to place 1st lady and 5th overall in this Scottish Championship event along with setting a new club record.
This was Gail’s debut run at this distance and huge congratulations to her on her epic performance. The race started at 12 Noon and involved the runners completing 42 laps of the 2.38km circuit. Gail showed immense strength throughout the event reaching the 50km mark in 4.04.40 and over the final few laps a close contest developed with eventual 2nd placed Elaine Calder (9.07.40) who closed Gail’s lead to 25 seconds with only two laps remaining.
Gail dug deep and produced a couple of her fastest laps to pull clear and secure her superb victory.
