After an absence of one year the popular Ceres 8 returned to the road racing calendar on Tuesday evening attracting a field of 150 runners. Carnegie Harriers were represented by twenty seven club members with the event featuring the 12th counter in our Road Running Grand Prix. Carnegie’s John Hargreaves ran a strong race forging ahead of Roger Van Gompel (Dundee Hawkhill Harriers) over the final mile to secure victory in 45.46. Club mate Roger Clark found the hilly course to his liking reaching the finish at Ceres village green in 3rd place timing at 46.43. Fast improving Andrew Smith ran well finishing 7th overall (1st U20) in 48.38 while Campbell Hutt was 11th (49.39) andWilliam Hargreaves finished 12th in 49.42. Isobel Burnett clocked an impressive 57.42 to place 5th lady overall and 1st F50. Annette Bunyan produced a strong run timing at 1.00.15 finishing 6th lady. Morna Fleming was the 3rd Carnegie lady to finish the hilly eight miler clocking a time of 1.03.02 while Yvette Wilson timed at 1.04.02. John Fulham knocked over six minutes from his previous best eight mile time finishing 27th overall in 53.27. Allan Brannigan continued his good form placing 50th in 57.25 while Gordon Rae ran well finishing 66th in 59.28.
