Andy Symonds, Carnegie Harriers, repeats victory at the Mighty Deerstalker Adventure Race 10K in 1:10:26 and Fabienne Thompson finishes 2nd Lady in 1:34:28. (overall position 54th)

The event, which is advertised as a “10K-and a bit” actually measures 10.7 miles. It is a trubo-charged roller coaster of a run, taking you off-road most of the time, under and over a series of exciting obstacles, crossing freezing rivers, walking across slippery beams, up vertical hills, leopard crawling under nets, scrambling up a scree, across pitch black tunnel with near freezing sewage smelling water up to your waist. Ahead of 833 finishers (a real mix of tweed and lycra-clad athletes) Andy ran 14 minute faster than last year, this time making use of the key item: a headtorch.
