Ian Stewart places second at the Donkey Brae Race
Fifteen Carnegie runners were amongst a field of 253 finishers at the annual 7 mile Donkey Brae Run held on a very hot afternoon from the Silver Sands in Aberdour. Ian Stewart enjoyed a fine race placing 2nd overall and the leading M50 in 39.49. Ian had contested the lead until the three mile mark before race winner Paul McCloskey (Pitreavie AAC) forged ahead. Paul’s winning time was 39.01.

Kevin Mathie made an excellent comeback run from injury to place 10th overall in 44.05 while Fabienne Thompson won the Female Veteran award covering the undulating course in 48.34 (39th). Ian Mitchell clocked 51.39 and congratulations to Claire Howie who put in a strong effort finishing 1st local female in 51.39 (65th overall). Stephen Greer crossed the finishing line in 54.51 and Gillian McCracken comfortably broke the hour mark finishing in 58.42. Well done to Paul McPherson and Catherine Wilson who timed at 1.01.21 and 1.01.57 respectively. Clive Cable timed at 1.02.29 and it was good to see George Stenhouse (1.02.32) back racing.

Richard Coates who resides in Aberdour completed his local race in 1.12.37 finishing just ahead of club mate Laura Stewart (1.12.44) and Dalgety Bay’s David Evans who timed at 1.12.45.

Sunday 27th July – Dinosaur 10K Road Race, Deal, Kent

Ian Johnston won the supervet award at the Dinosaur 10K Road Race in Deal, Kent on Sunday where he covered the 6.2 mile course in exceptionally hot conditions in 39.24.
